Many of our Friends, like you, are currently self-isolating and we understand that it is difficult and lonely. We want to help you as you have helped us. We are encouraging everyone to use their garden to enjoy the fresh air and wildlife to be found there. We also want to help you experience all the colours that are found in the flora and fauna of the countryside in your own home.

Through our Colours of the Countryside campaign, using our social media channels, new website and The Lark, we are providing positivity and helping to encourage mental wellness by bringing the outdoors, indoors, to provide you with a little spark of joy and happiness. We have been filling our social channels with content to inspire everyone with the #ColoursOfTheCountryside and top tips on animals, birds and plants you might see in your back garden.

Another important element of the campaign is the #ColoursOfTheCountryside blog, where Vince, our Monitoring Officer, is writing daily entertaining features of the wildlife he is seeing and showing that life is ongoing.

What has Dr Vince Lea spotted?

As all events and our education programme are currently on hold, we have created a way for you to experience the life on our farms, from you home.

But this is a very difficult time for the CRT. Our volunteers have not been able to undertake the vital conservation activities, whilst our farmers are busy being wonderful key workers and keeping the nation fed. We are monitoring this closely and will allow our vital volunteers to return only when it is safe to do so.

We are also not able to run events, which is a really important part of our income generation and Friend recruitment activities. We will notice a considerable loss in income this year, which may mean we will have to reduce some of our planned activities in 2021.
