"I enjoy volunteering for the CRT because it gives me the opportunity to work outside on the farm in truly stunning countryside. It has also given me the opportunity to see and learn about local wildlife and native plants and species." -Volunteer on Lark Rise Farm, Cambridgeshire
We pride ourselves in encouraging local people and communities to invest in the life and work of the countryside, through various volunteering programmes we are educating them on the importance of biodiversity and conservation.
Our volunteering opportunities play a vital role in the conservation work, wildlife monitoring and events across our properties. From planting hedgerows to tracking migration patterns to selling mince pies, each role supports us in our overall vision.
There are many positive benefits of volunteers to wildlife and conservation, such as creating new or improve habitats, clearing invasive varieties to allow native species to thrive and monitoring species populations.
Our tenant farmers work tirelessly to improve the land for wildlife. They also work hard to make a living in one of the hardest and gruelling industries in the UK.
The farmers use the CRT volunteers to carry out vital conservation and monitoring activities on the farms that they cannot spare the time to do.
The benefits of volunteering can be enormous, it connects like-minded people from all walks of life, teaches new skills that can be utilised across various tasks and gives an opportunity to support nature and conservation.
We have paused our volunteering programme for now, but are excited to be relaunching it next Spring in 2022. Volunteers are so very important to the CRT and if you are interested in joining us next year, we would love to hear from you. Please register to let us know and we will get in touch with you in the New Year.
If you’re not able to volunteer, you can still help us achieve our vision:
