Striving towards a living, working countryside

Outdoor Learning

At the CRT, we are very keen to welcome schools, youth groups and indeed anyone interested in learning more about our countryside onto our farms and properties.

We believe learning outside of the classroom naturally embraces cross-curricular learning, and the variety of resources available on our properties presents the opportunity to cover many different aspects of the curriculum at a range of levels….as well as being a more enjoyable and relaxed way to learn!

School visits to the farm are possible at any time of the year but April to September is the preferred time. Visits to schools by CRT staff are possible at any time by prior arrangement. We find that going first to the schools is beneficial in that we get to introduce the subject requested by teachers to the children, therefore when they come to visit the farm they will already be Health and Safety savvy, we think that including the children on the discussion of risk assessment is essential, being aware of dangers is something that children need to be able to apply to everyday life, involving them in the discussion will mean a safer trip to the countryside.  Visiting the school will give the children time to digest information from our visit and also we would ask teachers to give the children some time to think about some questions they might like to ask on their visit.

We will work with you to tailor make a programme of activities to meet your aims and objectives. To arrange a visit or find out more, please contact the office.
