Visit CRT’s flagship, Lark Rise Farm on the 14th July and discover how your food gets from field to fork! A fun-filled family day with activities designed so all ages will leave having discovered something new! Only £1 entry for adults and ‘KIDS GO FREE’ this will be a great day to get the whole family out and about in the natural world.
Discover the huge number of creatures that call Lark Rise home, on a wildlife walk with Dr Vince Lea, Head of Wildlife Monitoring. Let the children explore the wonderful world of bugs and insects in the wildflower meadow patch. They can also have a go at making wildflower pops so you can have your own wildflower patch at home!
Learn about the importance of wildlife habitats on Farmer Tim Scott’s farm and how they help on the amazing journey your food takes! From what sort of machinery he uses to plant the tiny little seeds, to how Tim and the wildlife keeps the plants alive and healthy. Find out exactly how your food makes it all the way from the field to your fork!
Fun Family Dog Show.
With 9 classes such as ‘waggiest tail’, ‘best trick’ and ‘the dog the judge would most like to take home’, this isn’t your usual dog show! Only £1 per class and the winner from each will be entered into the grand finale where our judges will pick the ‘Best in Show!’
Charcoal picture competition.
Find out how you can create charcoal from willow and use is at pencil! On the day, take part in the charcoal picture competition. We will be looking for the most interesting farming inspired picture and you could win a prize!
Plenty of local produce and food!
From local craft beers, to ice creams, from jams to chutneys and other caterers – there will be plenty to buy and plenty to eat!
Tractor Trailer Rides
Did you know that on 27th October 2018, Lark Rise Farm hosted the 40th National Hedge Laying Championship? 100 competitors laid over 1km of hedges in just 5 hours! Local competitor, Tim Radford, from Barton was the 2018 Supreme Champion with his hedge laying skills in South of England style. Take a tractor trailer ride around the fields and see the variety of different styles of beautifully laid hedges and how much they have grown since!
